AzPTA Ideal Scene
THE IDEAL SCENE of the ARIZONA PHYSICAL THERAPY ASSOCIATION

The Ideal Scene of the Arizona Physical Therapy Association (AzPTA) is a viable expanding association that is recognized and respected as a leading chapter in the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

Each physical therapist and physical therapist assistant in Arizona recognizes that it is their professional obligation to be a member of their professional association. Therefore, our association represents 75% of licensed physical therapists and certified physical therapist assistants residing within the state. There is 100% student membership in Arizona physical therapist and physical therapist assistant education programs and a 90% transfer rate to active membership.

The AzPTA gives all members a sense of community, rapport’ and professionalism and therefore they feel it is a privilege to be a member. We strive to expand and continually enhance member benefits such that the tangible and non-tangible value of membership is recognized. Fifty percent of the membership attends each state meeting because the programming meets the needs of the constituents. There is sufficient non-programming income to allow each member one free meeting a year, and for freedom of diversification of programming. Members attend and participate in the business meetings.

We have a multi-link, dynamic, user-friendly web site which meets the educational and informational needs of members and the public. The web site also includes electronic voting, meeting registration and access to a multitude of professional development resources on demand. We have a permanent location in an attractive, prime, well-signed, easily accessible location. We have ample staff, storage, a conference room, and resources for members within the office. Requests for assistance are handled quickly, efficiently, thoroughly and with respect.

The association is financially secure, and runs smoothly and efficiently due to a clearly defined and understood organizational structure. The scholarship fund is self-perpetuating. Districts meet the educational and professional needs of their constituents and develop a sense of community. The Nominating Committee presents to the Board and membership a full slate with qualified candidates. Fifty percent of the membership participate in elections. We have energetic, active, dynamic working committees that are filled with diverse and enthusiastic members who exceed the expectations of their positions. The Board of Directors is well trained, highly motivated, and positive. They know and competently fulfill their roles and responsibilities resulting in a productive, pleasant, rewarding, and fun environment in which to work. All Board members are in excellent communication with each other and reports are completed in an accurate and timely manner.

The public and the medical community understand the role and benefits of physical therapy. There are no referral-for-financial-gain practices in the state. There is a seamless interaction with the Arizona Board of Physical Therapy for mutual support of the profession. We have a strong presence at the Arizona State Capitol to lobby, protect, and enhance the profession of physical therapy. Physical therapists and physical therapist assistants are elected to local and state public offices.

Our vision for the association is known and accepted by all members and we work collaboratively to achieve our goals.
