Members Mentoring Members Program
Are you interested in helping someone new to the profession with leadership, career, or professional development? Many PT and PTA new graduates begin their careers not realizing the questions that they will have, nor do they know where to turn for answers. According to many experts, career success often requires the assistance of people willing to support and encourage another's career development--a mentor. In fact, the U.S. Department of Labor has identified the lack of mentoring as one of the "organizational or attitudinal barriers" preventing career advancement for working professionals.
By developing the Members Mentoring Members program, the AzPTA will be able to help its members by putting them in touch with others in the same practice setting or area of clinical expertise. The Members Mentoring Members program is free and open to all members. The Members Mentoring Members program does not match mentors and protégés, but rather provides comprehensive information which allows potential protégés to contact prospective mentors directly. The amount of time devoted to the program is dependent upon each individual. Some suggested activities include:
**Meeting in person to discuss current issues
**Answering questions via phone or email
**Providing advice
**Helping to advance manual skills
