Presenter: Steve Mills, PTA, CPT

Steve Mills is a graduate of Pima Medical Institute (PTA) as well as University of Colorado Boulder (Associate of Business).  He has 15+ years experience in the Strength and Conditioning field as a personal trainer as well as 5 years experience as a PTA.  He additionally has a rich background in combat sports including 15+ years experience in Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu, and wrestling.  He has trained and competed in Powerlifting as well.

Periodization scheduling.  Concepts for periodization and game planning to maximize strength and conditioning for patient athletes. We will dive into how to take patient athletes from injury to game ready through understanding types and usage of periodization schedules (linear, block, undulating). We will analyze how to take these concepts and customize exercise game planning or periodization schedules to help athletes reach full potential.

Kettle bell training. Discuss concepts and techniques for usage with patients, all the way to athletic strength and conditioning. We will review proper form, how to cue, and what are the critical faults that can cause injury. Kettle bells are being used more frequently in the strength and conditioning field; this lecture will give you an understanding of how and when they are best used in the clinical setting. This is an interactive topic so have your kettle bells ready and swing along.
