Presenter: Dr. Jim Roush
Jim Roush
With the expansion of the number of physical therapy programs in Arizona, there is a need for continued monitoring of the workforce to ensure the number of job openings is consistent with the number of individuals entering the workforce. In 2018, Arizona passed a law requiring data collection for some licensed health professionals in the state. In 2019, the law was expanded to include the physical therapy workforce. In 2020, individuals who were applying for relicensing or recertification were asked basic questions in a minimal data set developed for Arizona. Questions asked included who are we, what is the education level, what is the age of our clinicians, how many of us are providing direct patient care and how many of us are performing primarily administration, what is the ethnicity of our clinicians, where are there a sufficient number of clinicians and where are the holes that need to be filled? This presentation will provide the results of the data collected during the 2020 relicensing/recertifying period.
