Telemedicine update from the AzPTA President

Posted: Mar 25, 2020 by Christa Lombardo

Members and Non-Members of the Arizona Physical Therapy Association:

First off, please allow me to express my most sincere appreciation and gratitude to all Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, and individuals, businesses, and corporations who spearheaded the call for action which led to Governor Ducey granting Executive Order 2020-15 Expansion of Telemedicine to include any Arizona licensed healthcare provider including Physical Therapists for the duration of the Public Health Emergency declared on March 11, 2020.

Thank you, Governor Ducey, for recognizing the immediate need for the Expansion of Telemedicine providers to slow the transmission of COVID-19, provide Arizonans access to care and protect healthcare providers, and minimize the financial implications associated with the current Public Health Emergency.

I assure you the Arizona Physical Therapy Association will continue to fight for HB2536 which will provide a permanent expansion of telemedicine providers to include Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants when State Legislators return from recess. The State Board of Physical Therapy has released a public statement via e-mail to Licensees on their website regarding Governor Ducey’s Executive Order. I encourage all Licensed individuals in the State of Arizona to continue abiding by all rules, regulations, and restrictions established in our Practice Act.

Please remember what we as a Profession were able to accomplish in a short period of time when unified in a common pursuit. I am so incredibly proud of your efforts and look forward to what the Profession can accomplish in years to come.
